We’re going to state!  Nope, not basketball, or baseball…or anything really close to that.   Since BabyGirl won her division in the Sunburst Beauty Pageant, I am going to take her to Springfield, IL for the State Pageant!

The pageant is Mary 23rd and 24th, over Memorial Day weekend. I haven’t even told Papi we’re doing it yet!  I’ve received literature on several different pageants she could participate in, and well, this one seems to be the most kid friendly, along with wallet friendly!

I have ordered a custom made babydoll style pageant dress for her.  It should be in today or tomorrow! Woo hoo!  It’s a beautiful aquamarine blue…I’ll post pictures, no worries about that.  I’m thinking about having her compete in the Casual Wear portion as well–just have to find the white pants I need to go with her top.

I am getting her pictures taken on Saturday (yep, at Penneys-they do what I say and I get quick turn around).  She needs photos for the Program book.

I pretty much have everything ready for the pageant.  Well, except for her Ad Page. They encourage the contestants to sell ads- $150 per page and they also have their photo on it.  My goal is to fill one page and that’s enough.  But I have none so far!!  Any ideas?  They start at $25 for Business Card size.  It’s also suggested to sell Good Lucks on that page… I just don’t have anyone willing to do that.

Okay, have a great day!  And here are a few pictures from down in Paducah-nevermind the runny nose!

There are times like this when I feel like my blog needs it’s old name back “Topy Turvy whatever it was” ha ah

Things have been good. I am more happy and proud every day.  My daughter is blossoming so quickly right before my eyes-I feel that if I blink, she will be graduating high school and moving out.  My husband and I are slowly but surely recapturing our connection that we had before BabyGirl was born.  It is odd how much life changes. You hear about it but don’t believe it until one day you look at your spouse and wonder who he really is nowadays.

The Fixer-Upper House is painstakingly slow at making progress.  We now have all of the interior doors up and the facings up. Baseboards are going up one wall at a time (one week at a time!).  All of the mentioned needs to be painted, but hey, we have a good 5 years before we move again, right?  The outside. Yikes, how dare I go there!   In this area, Sweet Gum trees are everywhere, we get to have six in our front and back yard.   And we believe that the previous owners did not rake anything in the last two years-but chose to mow the leaves and leave it at that.  So, Papi and I, two weekends ago decide to take this leaf and gumball matter into our own hands.  After three and a half hours of both of us working, 21 contractor strength lawn and leaf size bags, the front yard is clean!  Two years of leaves and sweet gums in the holly bushes (they had berries on them under all that crap!), and dirt as a yard with green onions appearing. Ugh.  Now that spring is here, we’ve really got to get the grass seed down to try and get a handle on it.

This is long enough, I’ll try to post more often. I have tons of pictures from the park and going to Paducah to upload for you eventually.  And more Pageant updates! =)

Have a great night.

Okay, fine, let me have it. I’m ready. I did it and am PROUD! I entered my beloved 16 month old into her first beauty pageant. And guess what, she WON! Not only did she win, she also received a medal for Prettiest Smile!

Here she is just after the pageant (yep, a mall pageant) with her goods.

And now I am officially a pageant mom! Ha!  There is another pageant coming up March 21st…I have been searching for just the right dres!!

We had some major snow last week, as evidenced by the sheet of ice covering my lawn! ha!

Anyway, here’s a pic of BabyGirl enjoying her time outside!

Next–Valentine’s for BabyGirl’s class at daycare!! Yikes!

New Living room!

here is one picture of the finished house! ha  As if it were even close to that. And please ignore the WAY TOO SMALL rug in the middle of the room.  Cannot find one big enough, cheap enough! ha

I am so sorry to my dedicated readers! My lovely husband has not gotten the internet connected at home.  In fact, the computer is still in a bazillion pieces with unhooked cables. Ugh….I am able to check my email and facebook on my cellular though!

Everyone keeps asking for before and after pics of the house. Well….there’s not too much after yet.  We did refinish the wood floors.  But still waiting on the carpet for the bedrooms, retile the bathrooms, tile the kitchen, entryway and by the backdoor.  Replace all interior doors (Papi is doing that today!), replaces all exterior doors–I’m thinking of ordering the front door this weekend!!.  And the kitchen, needs all new cabinets and appliances–my stove and dishwasher should be here this weekend! woo hoo!!

I will attach two pics.  The first is a picture of the living room and it’s new floor before we moved.  The second is babygirl in the hallway screeching. Her favorite pasttime!!houselivingroomAlexis in Hall

When I blog, it comes out as my online journal and those who wish to read, well, so be it.  There are several blogs that I read on a regular basis, and occasionally I’ll branch out and read new ones from a search or referal.  If I don’t like what I read, I have the right to just leave the site and never return.  I never have the urge to actually CRITICIZE anyone!

Where am I going with this?  Today I was checking my blog and Amy Velazquez from the Harris Law Firm out of Hillsboro, Oregon, was just so damn nice to tell me that my bouquet was tacky since I didn’t use real flowers.  Instead, if I had budget issues, I should go with daisies or carnations. (yuck, yuck  and yuck)

Obviously, she does not read my blog regularly (she just left the comment on a 7 month old blog post) and did not know my situation at all.   And I know, if I put my information out there for EVERYONE to read, I should be prepared for not so nice comments.  But I have always followed the rule, especially when dealing with strangers or new acquaintances–if you have nothing nice to say, don’t say it at all!  Anyway, it just struck me as quite strange and rude.  Obviously, the wedding is over and nothing can be changed. I mean….she has her picture on her firm’s law site. Would she like for me to say she look like a nerdy, undesirable wetback?  No.  Cause that’s not what you say to someone you do not know–it’s mean and hurts feelings and assuming things about a person based upon one element.

Okay, I’m off of my box.  And just so you don’t think I’m racist or what not– I do not condone calling people racial slurs, I just through in the wetback comment to prove the assumption theory.

I do not believe I have had much free time since we closed on the house!  Babygirl immediately came down with two ear infections, the flu–then gave the flu to me.  I’m finally back to normal 4 days later.

The house, wow.  It’s a work in progress.  I had originally planned for us to move this weekend, but Papi does not have it off as he’d hoped.  Someone could not cover like previously thought.  I’m going to make as many trips as I can with the baby with the smaller stuff–you know, dishes, clothes, etc.

The floors have not been finished still, so yuck.  I have to work, so my mother is going to watch the baby and Papi and my father are going to work on the house.  Papi will finish painting, and hopefully–Dad will clean floors so I’m comfortable with Babygirl walking on them!  I know I’m not even close to that yet! ha ha

Anyway, here are a few holiday shots of our angel!

We closed on the house Thursday morning!  Yay!  Papi and I are officially home owners.  It has a lot of work and we need help!  The floors and painting are hard to do when only one of us is able to put in three earnest hours a day.

Here are the before pictures!

Nobody sleeps.

Baby Girl cried last night. Ugh.  She started wimpering and doing “I had scary dream” cry around 3:40.   She did that for about 7 minutes. Then it was a real cry.  So I woke Papi up and made him listen to it to. He said let her cry it out or we’ll have a co-sleeper.

So she cries and screams.  The majority of it being MAMAAAMILLL.  I take that as Mama Milk.  It goes on for 45 minutes. I am CRYING!  Papi finally says, go get her!  I say, no, you told me not to, even though I think she just wants milk–she’s going through a  growth spurt. She’s only did the not going back to crib thing twice!

Finally, I cannot take it, and I get her some nice milk and get her. She had a HEAVILY wet diaper and poop. Or couse she was unhappy. So she cries at me while  I change her.  Then I get her the milk, she chugs it down in my arms, and then just falls a sleep so content looking. Papi is apologizing profusely all morning.  I let her sleep in my arms for about 10 minutes, then I take her back to her crib, she whines a little when I move her, but as soon as she’s lying down she grabs blankie, rolls over and is asleep before I can say good night….
